KS1 Visit a Sealife Centre -
On Monday 26th of April, KS1 set off on 2 coaches to visit the Sea Life Centre in Oberhausen. There was an accident on the motorway, so it took us a long time to get there and we arrived just in time for a picnic lunch!
Our topic this term is about Sea Life/Under the Sea so we thought it would be great to see real sea life creatures. We went there because Gutersloh is a long was from the sea!
After lunch, a man from the Sea Life Centre staff told us where to go and what to see. We went around the centre in small groups of 5 or 6 with an adult and we wore stickers to stay safe.
At the Sea Life Centre there are jellyfish, sharks, rays, sea horses, octopus, turtles and lots more! There were rock pools where we could touch starfish, anemones, coral and seaweed. The anemones were slimy, stretchy, sticky and smooth. The starfish were hard, bumpy and had a mouth in the middle underneath and they felt like sandpaper. It smelt like the seaside there, but all the creatures were kept in glass tanks. The glass was very thick to keep the thousands of litres of sea water inside and all the living things too!
We all had a great day and learned lots of information for our topic.
Thank you to all the helpers!
