Everybody Matters

Arnhem Y3 & 4 - June  2010

Wednesday 23rd June 2010

Today we left school at about 9 o'clock and travelled all the way to Arnhem without getting stuck in any traffic!

We arrived at the Youth Hostel just in time for lunch and then when we had made our beds we set off to the Airborne Museum where we took an interactive tour through the museum.

Tea time was great!! We all had lots of food...some people ate 4 bowls of soup, and that was just for starters!

We all had a great day and are looking forward to our trip to the Liberation Museum tomorrow but now it's time for hot chocolate before bed.

Today we visited the Liberation museum. We learnt all about Anne Frank and her life during WW2. We also saw and heard about the liberation of Holland including Operation Market Garden. We had the chance to leave messages on a rememberance tree in the museum. There were messages from all around the world giving thanks.

On the way back to the hostel, we drove over the famous Arnhem bridge, we stopped the bus and walked along the river to take photos with us underneath the bridge.

This evening we have all enjoyed our evening meal and we are going to have a talent show before bed!

Although we have had a great time, it will still be nice to sleep in our own beds tomorrow night.

The last day of our adventure. We had to finish packing. We packed the bus and then we went to the Oosterbeek war cemetery. The cemetery was very, very quiet. It is where all the soldiers that died in Arnhem in WW2 are buried. It is quite a sad place to be.

Finally we went to the bus and travelled back to school.

We were sad to leave because we had had a very exciting week. It was outstanding.
